You know What is SVLK?

SVLK is a Timber Verification and Legality System (SVLK), which is a tracking system that is compiled in a multi-stakeholder manner to be able to ensure the legality of wood sources circulating and trading in Indonesia.

The SVLK or Timber Legality Verification System was developed to encourage the implementation of applicable Indonesian government regulations related to the trade and circulation of legal forest products in Indonesia.

Why is SVLK necessary?

The timber legality verification system or SVLK is implemented in Indonesia to ensure that all wood products circulating and traded in Indonesia have a convincing legality status. Consumers abroad no longer need to doubt the legality of wood originating from Indonesia.

Forest management units no longer need to worry about their timber products being doubted about their validity. The wood-based industry is confident in the legality of its wood raw material sources so that it is easier to convince its buyers abroad.

Then What is the Background that Underlies the Implementation of SVLK itself?

The Government's commitment to combating illegal logging and illegal timber trade. The realization of good forest governance towards sustainable forest management. Requests for guaranteed legality of timber in the form of certification from international markets, in particular from the European Union, the United States, Japan and Australia. As a form of " National Incentive" to anticipate the increasing demand for timber legality certification schemes from foreign countries, such as FSC, PEFC, etc. schemes.
