SVLK Certification
SVLK is a system to ensure the credibility of guaranteeing the legality of forest products, traceability of forest products, and/or sustainability of forest management. This system was developed in the context of implementing forestry governance, law enforcement and promoting the legal and sustainable trade in forest products.

SVLK isa commitment of parties in the forestry sector to manage forests sustainably and promote legal timber. Some of the benefits for companies that implement SVLK are:

Timeline of PT BRIK-QS Work Procedures
Verification Procedure
- Prospective clients fill out the VLK (Verification of Timber Legality) application form, which can be obtained on the www.brikonline.com page.
- PT BRIK-QS conducts a review of the application and communicates it to the client.
- After an agreement is reached, a VLK cooperation contract is drawn up/ signed.
Step 1
Application/application
- The review of the document aims to: (a) assess the readiness of the client, (b) obtain information about the scope, location, licensing, suppliers, production processes, sales, K3 and employment.
- In the event that the client is not ready, then verification in the field can be postponed and the client is asked to make repairs in advance.

Document review

Step 3
Verification in the field
- The preparation of the report is guided by the Decree of the Director General of Sustainable Production Forest Management.
- The reviewer reviews and assesses the VLK results report in terms of adequacy, completeness and compliance with the VLK Result Report guidelines.
- The results of the reviewer’s examination become one of the materials for decision makers for the issuance / freezing / revocation of certificates.
- Issuance of S-LK if all assessment norms for each verifier on the Timber Legality Verification Standard “Meet”.
Step 4
Reporting and retrieval
decision
- The issuance, amendment, freezing and revocation of S-LK is published on the website of PT BRIK-QS www.brikonline.com and the website of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry https://silk.menlhk.go.id.
- Publication of a resume of audit results containing information about the identity of PT BRIK-QS, the identity of the client and the results of verification which is a summary of the justification of each verifier.

Issuance of Legality Certificate
Forest Products (S-Legality)
- Includes document verification, observation and interviews at client’s industrial sites, suppliers, partner industries.
- Field observation is an activity to test the correctness of data through observation, recording, tracing, and analysis.
- Document verification is the activity of collecting, studying data and documents, and analyzing them using the VLK standard.
- The implementation of verification in the field, consists of:
a) Opening meeting is a meeting between the audit team and the client that aims to explain the objectives, scope, schedule, methodology, verification procedures, and guarantees of confidentiality.
b) Verification in the field is carried out by means of, among others:
– Interviews with personnel at work.
– Inspection of timber licensing and legality, supplier lists and supply data, due diligence of imported raw materials, production processes, records, trade data and documents, implementation of K3, fulfillment of labor regulations, and covid-19 prevention health protocols.
– Inspection of the timber supply chain.
– Can cross-check with relevant government agencies.
c) The closing meeting is a meeting between the audit team and the client to present the verification results and confirm the results and findings in the field.
- S-Legality (d/h S-LK) is a letter given to forest product shelters, PBPHH holders, Business Permit holders
for industrial business activities, or exporters who explain that they have met the standards of forest product legality. S-Legality contains the name of the permit holder, information on the type of certification (individually), location, industrial business license number, type of production, production capacity, name of LVLK and its logo, LVLK address, KAN Logo, date of issue, validity period and certificate number, reference of LK verification standards, tariff post (HS), source of raw materials and type of wood, which is stated in the barcode. - In certifications carried out in groups, S-LK is on behalf of the group and also includes the names of its members.
